Preparations afoot to operate twitter in all govt offices

KATHMANDU: The government, in a bid to implement e-information system, digitalisation and e-governance, is preparing to make sure all government offices in the country compulsorily operate their own Twitter accounts.

According to Pradhumna Prasad Upadhyay, Chief at the 'Hello Sarkar Desk', operating Twitter accounts in public offices would make information dissemination easier and efficient.

Stating that preparation was underway to make sure all public offices employ this social media tool, Upadhyay viewed that public could lodge their grievances without having to visit the government offices themselves and undergo tedious paperwork for the same.

Many government offices have been operating their respective Facebook accounts in line with the government's instruction aimed at making information exchange convenient and effective.

According to him, tasks to formulate 'Work Procedures to use Twitter handle in government agencies-2075' was in the offing. Upadhyay stated that the work procedures concerning Twitter handle would be passed at the earliest to implement mandatory operation of Twitter in all government offices.

The work procedures instruct that the Twitter handle be attractive and service-seeker-friendly, and the account be operated daily and regularly.

He shared that around 10 per cent of the total government agencies in the country are currently using Twitter.
