Preparations on to welcome Modi

Janakpurdham, April 25

Preparations have started to welcome Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Janakpurdham.

A chopper ferrying PM Modi will land at the historic and sacred Barhabigha ground. Modi will head for Janaki Temple to offer puja from the ground. He will offer puja from the eastern door. After the puja, Modi is scheduled to take information about the temple from priests.

The Welcome Committee Coordinator and Province 2 Chief Minister Lalbabu  Raut said Modi will be given a civic felicitation following puja at the temple. A felicitation letter will also be read out.

Raut said the provincial government was making preparations for the felicitation and would also facilitate his puja at the temple. According to Raut, the road from Barhabigha to Janaki temple as well as houses on both sides of the road will be cleaned and welcome gates, kalash and flowers will be used to decorate the road and other places. “We are preparing to bring all the people from Province 2 at the civic felicitation programme,” Raut said.

CM Raut said they would not put forward any demand with Modi. “We are working to make Modi’s visit unforgettable,” Raut said. Modi will address the felicitation programme and then fly to Kathmandu.

Province 3 Cabinet meeting last evening decided to carry out special preparations to make Modi’s visit historic, said Province 2 Finance Minister Bijay Kumar Yadav. The meeting had decided to form a Major Welcome Committee and five other committees to prepare for Modi’s visit.

Earlier, Indian envoy to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri held a meeting with the provincial government and priests at Janaki temple.
