Preparations underway to forward Nijgadh International Airport Project draft

BARA: The works pertaining to airport mapping, land acquisition and compensation, consultant selection and environmental impact assessment for construction of the proposed Nijgadh International Airport are being carried out, project officials informed.

According to Project Head Ram Hari Maharjan, the environmental impact assessment report has been drafted and will be submitted to concerned authority within upcoming week.

Likewise, 120 Bighas of land has been acquired by the project and former landowners, 12 as of now, have been compensated.

According to the Project Office at Simara, after the conclusion of parliamentary and provincial level elections, 50 landowners have forwarded applications seeking compensation.

The government has allocated Nrs 1 billion in the fiscal year 2073/74 budget for compensation and Nrs 100 million for consultation expenses.
