President Bidhya Devi Bhandari paid tributes to all known and unknown martyrs, including Shukraraj Shastri, Dharmabhakta Mathema, Dasharath Chand, and Gangalal Shrestha who laid down their lives for civil freedom, establishment of democracy, and defence of nationalism on the occasion of Martyrs' Day-2023.
She issued a message stating that it was a special day to remember the great martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the people and the country.
President Bhandari said, "Today will remind us of the supreme sacrifice made by the martyrs."
"The freedom and civil rights that we enjoy today are the rewards of the sacrifices of martyrs.
Therefore, progressing towards fulfilling the aspirations of sustainable peace, good governance, development and prosperity through the federal democratic republican governance system will be a true tribute to the martyrs."
On the occasion, Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun said, "The main credit for achieving democracy, federal democratic republic and other achievements goes to martyrs."
He expressed his best wishes on the occasion and expressed appreciation for the contribution of all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the establishment of democracy and federal democratic republic. He also accorded high respect to the martyrs' families.
