Kathmandu, September 9

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari today sent a message of congratulations to newly-appointed President of Pakistan Arif-ur-Rehman Alvi on his assumption of office.

In her message, President Bhandari said Nepal and Pakistan enjoy close and cordial relations based on goodwill, friendship and mutual understanding.

Highlighting the growing people-to-people contacts which have further contributed to consolidate bilateral relations, she mentioned that the two countries had been working together at regional and international forums on matters of mutual interest, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Bhandari expressed her willingness to work closely with President Alvi in the days ahead for further strengthening the cordial relations enjoyed by the two countries and their citizens.

She also extended her best wishes for his successful tenure of office and good health and happiness as well as for the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Pakistan.
