Prez Bhandari and ILO Director General Ryder hold talks

GENEVA: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday met with International Labour Organisation (ILO) Director General Guy Ryder, on the sidelines of the World of Work Summit held as part of the 106th Session of the International Labour Conference.

The meeting was attended by Malta's President Marie – Louise Coleiro Preca and President of Mauritius Ameenah Gurib.

Nepali Ambassador to Switzerland and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Deepak Dhital, and Foreign Ministry's Secretary, Shanker Das Bairagi were also present during the meeting.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday made a visit to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) headquarters and inquired into its history.

The President is taking part in the World of Work Summit being held by International Labour Organisation in Geneva, commenced from June 5 scheduled to conclude today. Worker, employer and government delegates from the ILO's 187 member States tackle a wide range of issues, including labour migration, occupational safety and health, climate change and women in the world of work.

ILO Deputy Director General Greg Vines welcomed the President during her arrival at the ILO headquarters.

The President was briefed on the ILO history by Becci Remo. She was also shown the document recording Nepal's formal entry into the organisation.

Nepali Ambassador to Switzerland and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Deepak Dhital, Foreign Ministry's Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, President's Personal Secretary Dr Bimala Poudel Rai and Foreign Ministry's Spokesperson and Joint Secretary and Head of the Ministry's United Nations, International Organisations and International Law Division Bharat Raj Paudyal were also present during the meeting.
