President Bidya Devi Bhandari called on parties to stake claim to government according to Article 76 (5), on Thursday.
The President has given parties a deadline until 5:00 pm on Friday to form a new government, on recommendation of the government.
Earlier today, a meeting of the Council of Ministers had forwarded the recommendation to the Office of the President.
Her office stated that the government had forwarded a request to invoke Article 76 (5) as PM Oli, it has been learnt, is in no mood to undergo another parliamentary floor tests as there in no prospect of an otherwise result given the complex internal dynamics within parties represented at the Federal Parliament.
Prior to this, Articles 76 (2) and 76 (3) have already been tested, PM Oli's recent reappointment being facilitated by the latter after losing parliament's vote of confidence.
