KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 9

President Ramchandra Paudel has officially accepted the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, following the announcement made by Oli earlier on Tuesday afternoon.

Oli's resignation comes amid unprecedented demonstrations led by Gen Z youths demanding accountability for corruption, government restrictions, and police actions. The protests, which escalated over the past two days, have resulted in at least 19 deaths and over 500 injuries in clashes around the Federal Parliament and other sites in Kathmandu.

Authorities had imposed curfews across the Valley and deployed heavy security to manage the demonstrations, but the protests continued to intensify, pressuring the government and ultimately prompting the Prime Minister's departure.
