KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 30

President Ramchandra Paudel has extended his best wishes for peace, prosperity, and happiness to all Nepalis, both in the country and abroad, on the occasion of Tamu Lhosar, a festival predominantly celebrated by the Gurung community.

In his message, President Paudel emphasized the importance of festivals like Lhosar in fostering mutual harmony, tolerance, and fraternity among Nepalis, who live in a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, and multi-cultural society. He noted that such festivals play a significant role in strengthening national unity.

Tamu Lhosar, celebrated as the New Year by the Gurung community in the hilly and mountainous regions of Nepal, is marked with enthusiasm and joy. In recent years, its celebration has gained popularity beyond the Gurung community. Districts with significant Gurung settlements experience a special vibrancy during this festival.

President Paudel also lauded the Gurung community for their contributions to Nepal's socioeconomic progress and their efforts in preserving and promoting cultural heritage.

On this occasion, he expressed hope for unity among all Nepalis, leading to the nation's further progress and prosperity.
