Press meet disrupted

Sunsari, August 21 :

A group of 30-40 persons today disrupted a press conference organised to make public the irregularities in the Nepal National Social Welfare Association (NNSWA), an NGO.

The group also thrashed Bir Bahadur Sunar of Mahendranagar-10, who had organised the press meet.

The assailants disrupted the press meet when it had just begun and Sunar, a former storekeeper of the NNSWA, was going to address it. The press conference was attended by about a dozen journalists.

The press conference was organised in presence of police but it did not intervene the incident and Sunar was rushed away to district police office after he was thrashed.

Sunar has sustained a deep cut on the eyebrow.

Later in the evening, Sunar said he lost Rs 3000 and some documents in the afternoon incident. He blamed president of the NNSWA for masterminding the attack.
