Pressure cooker bomb found at Nawalpur NC election publicity office, NA defuses it

NAWALPUR: A bomb disposal team from the Nepali Army on Friday defused a pressure cooker bomb found at the Nepali Congress General Secretary Dr Shashanka Koirala's election publicity office at Dumkauli in Devchuli Municipality in Nawalpur district.

Koirala have been contesting in the upcoming elections for the House of Representatives from Nawalpur-1.

Local Lila Ballav Pathak, who have leased a house to the NC informed the police and NC cadres after seeing a pressure cooker connected with electric wire this morning.

DSP Dipendra GC said that the bomb might have been planted in the wee hours.

Chief District Office of the Nawalpur Sambhu Prasad Marasini said that the bomb disposal team from a nearby Arunkhola barrack defused the explosive around 9 am today.

An unidentified group have been trying to obstruct the elections by creating fear among the voters by targeting candidates with explosives and bombs.

Earlier, Nepali Congress Dr Ram Saran Mahat narrowly escaped an ambush targeted him in Nuwakot district.

However, the government have been assuring the general public to cast their votes without any fears as the government have made necessary security arrangements.
