Prez Bhandari calls for better environment of prison house

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that residential status of prisoners and the environment of prisons should be taken into consideration. Receiving the annual report of fiscal year 2073/074 of Office of the Attorney General, President Bhandari said that the quantity of prison food should also be increased.

Likewise, she stressed the need of training activities to enhance the capacity of the government attorneys and praised the performances of the Office of the Attorney General to that end.

As per the constitution, the Office of the Attorney General submits its annual report to the President.

On the occasion, Attorney General Basantaram Bhandari submitted the annual report of the Office of the Attorney General.

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Yagya Bahadur Thapa, Chief Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi, high ranking officials of the government, Deputy Attorney General, Joint Attorney General and others were present on the occasion.

In the fiscal year 2073/074, the Office of the Attorney General has defended 24,881 government cases while the number of criminal cases is 31,462.
