Prez stresses on nation building

Dipayal, September 30:

President Dr Ram Baran Yadav today emphasised the need to respect nationality and keep communal harmony intact for nation building.

“We are Nepalis first and we belong to the nation, irrespective of our language, religion and geographical identity,” Dr Yadav, who was in the far-western region to inspect the flood-hit areas, told media persons before returning to the capital.

Political stability and end to politics of violence are major concerns of people, he said, adding that a democratic constitution was a prerequisite.

“Different armed groups are still intensifying their activities in Tarai. It would harm the nation if not dealt on time,” Dr Yadav said.

Saying that relief has not been provided to most of the flood-victims in the far-western region, President Dr Yadav said the would make sure that relief was provided to all the victims. “Since the region is suffering from poverty, unemployment and scarcity of daily commodities, priorities should be given to eliminate these things,” he said.

He also asked people to be united for the cause of fostering nationality, prosperity and economic growth in the country.

Saying that nationality, prosperity, civilisation and economic growth are essential in the 21st century, he said all Nepalis should be united for these causes. Before returning to the capital, Dr Yadav met flood victims of Laxminagar in Doti.
