PM returns from Singapore with ‘improved health’
Kathmandu, September 6
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli returned home today after undergoing treatment in Singapore, said the PM’s personal physician, adding that the prime minister was in good shape to carry on his responsibilities.
PM Oli, who had travelled to Singapore on August 22 for the second time in a month, landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at around 12:00pm on a Thai Airways flight.
Oli was received at the airport by Minister of Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Minister of Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa and House of Representatives Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, among other ministers and government officials.
The PM did not address mediapersons present at the airport upon his arrival today.
During his 14-day stay in Singapore, Oli underwent plasmapheresis for seven times at National University Hospital, Singapore.
Plasmapheresis is a process that filters blood and removes harmful antibodies from the blood.
Issuing a statement right after Oli’s arrival, his personal physician Divya Singh Shah said the process of removing excess antibodies from the prime minister’s body was completed in Singapore.
“His health condition is normal now and he can continue his regular work,” said Singh. PM Oli, who underwent a kidney transplant surgery 12 years ago in 2007 in New Delhi, is on kidney enhancement drug therapy.
Oli has undergone routine health check-up in foreign capitals, including New Delhi.
He had undergone treatment at Singapore-based hospital where he was treated for swelling in his right hand in 2014.
