PM promises initiative to manage Meghauli airport

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said he would take the initiative to ensure regular and smooth operation of Meghauli airport in Chitwan.

Meghauli airport, constructed for tourists visiting Chitwan National Park, has not been in regular operation.

Inaugurating Meghauli Small Urban Drinking Water Sanitation Project in Chitwan, Dahal reiterated that he would take the initiative to ensure smooth operation of the airport at the earliest. He expressed confidence that smooth operation of the airport with regular flights would contribute to the development of tourism.

Dahal further said he would do everything possible to upgrade the Narayangadh-Meghauli-Golaghat road section. Though the contract was awarded to upgrade the road this year, the work is progressing at a snail’s pace.

The drinking water project was constructed at a cost of over Rs 170 million. With the capacity of supply 2.1 million litres of water on a daily basis, as many as 1,765 households will benefit from the project.
