KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba paid tribute to former regional committee President of the NC, late Shumsher Bahadur Rai.

Rai who had been suffering from heart and kidney diseases for the past two years died on Sunday night in course of treatment at the TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj.

PM Deuba went to the Hospital today and extended condolences to the late leader Rai, draping his body with the party flag. PM Deuba also expressed sorrow over the passing away of Rai saying his demise has caused a big loss to the NC. He was the father of former lawmaker Tanka Prasad Rai from Sankhuwasabha,.

Rai was admitted to the Teaching hospital for the past two weeks.

Recalling significant contribution of Rai to the democratic movement of Nepal, PM Deuba wished for eternal peace of the departed soul and extended condolence to the members of the bereaved family.
