KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 10
Traffic along the Prithvi Highway has been completely halted at Galaudi, near Gajuri in Dhading, after erosion by the Trishuli River caused a section of the road on the Kathmandu-bound side to subside.
According to the Department of Roads, work is underway to cut into the hillside and widen the road to restore traffic.
The department plans to allow one-way traffic from 9 pm on Saturday. Work to widen the road for two-way traffic is scheduled to begin at 7 am on Sunday, with the target of completing it by 6 pm, provided weather and other conditions remain favourable.
The department said it was mobilising available personnel, equipment and resources to reopen the road safely as soon as possible.
It has urged people to avoid unnecessary travel until the road resumes operation and to follow traffic management instructions issued by the authorities.
