MORANG: A probe committee under the leadership of UCPN-Maoist lawmaker Shiv Kumar Mandal, who was elected from Constituency No 4, Morang, was formed on Friday to investigate into killings in Morang’s Rangeli and Dainiya. An all-party meeting held at Morang DAO formed the committee, whose members include CPN-UML Morang chairman Mahesh Regmi, NC Morang secretary Yadu Kumar Bista and Federation of Nepali Journalists Morang chairman Mahendra Bista. UDMF, however, boycotted the all-party meeting.

Morang CDO Toyam Ray said the committee would submit its report to the DAO. Ray added that DAO would not allow any political party to organise any programme without its permission. The families of the deceased, meanwhile,

have refused to accept their bodies that have been kept at Koshi Zonal Hospital and are demanding a government probe into the incident, punishment for the guilty and compensation.
