KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 23
The government has constituted a task force to investigate the road accident involving a passenger bus (Ga 2 Ba 1421) that claimed at least 19 lives and left 25 others injured.
The bus, en route from Pokhara to Kathmandu, met with the दुर्घटना at Bhainsigouda in Benighat Rorang Municipality-5, Dhading, along the Prithvi Highway last night.
Home Ministry spokesperson Anand Kafle announced today that a five-member task force, led by a Joint Secretary, has been formed to probe the incident.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal.
The meeting was attended by the Home Secretary; the Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport; the chiefs of security agencies; the Director General of the Department of Transport Management; the Director General of the Department of Roads; senior officials from the Ministry; and representatives of the Transport Professionals and Workers' Association.
The task force has been mandated to conduct a thorough investigation and submit a detailed report on the incident. According to Kafle, 19 of the 44 passengers on board lost their lives, while the remaining 25 sustained injuries.
