Probe into mother-son death under way

Damauli, May 11

Tanahun police said they were collecting evidences in relation to the suspicious death of a woman and her son at Kyamin of Tanahun on April 26.

According to DSP Surendra Bahadur Gurung of District Police Office, the post-mortem report showed that the mother-son duo did not have internal injuries.

“Hence, the investigation has been centred around the question whether it was a murder or suicide,” said DSP Gurung.

The bodies of 24-year-old Rita Thapa and her five-year-old son Mission Thapa were found hanging from the ceiling of their room on April 26.

Thapa’s kin have demanded a fair investigation suspecting the incident to be a murder. They have also filed an FIR against Rita’s husband Man Bahadur Thapa and in-law Ram Bahadur Thapa.

However, the alleged have not been arrested yet.

The families have formed a Victim’s Struggle Committee to pile pressure on the concerned authorities for fair investigation into the incident.
