DHANGADI, JULY 5
The District Administration Office in Achham has declared prohibitory order targeting various parts of the district headquarters Mangalsen in the wake of demonstrations over the death of Binod Shahi of Panchadeval Binayak.
A resident of Panchadeval Binayak, Shahi had gone missing on April 30 and was found dead three days later.
The prohibitory order came after a clash over the murder yesterday. As per the administration's decision, prohibitory order has been issued targeting places around the palace, Achham District Court, District Attorney's Office, Bairagi Dhara Bus Counter, and Mangalsen Municipality Office, among other places.
While the administration had banned any protest programme around the sites, it has also warned of action in case of defiance.
Yesterday, 12 security personnel and many locals were injured when an agitation led by the five-party coalition demanding justice over Shahi's death took a nasty turn. Prior to yesterday's protest, there were frequent demonstrations for justice over Shahi's death earlier too.
Following the incident, Shahi's family had filed an FIR against 13 persons, including Panchadeval Binayak Municipality Mayor Ambika Chalaune and Panchadeval Binayak-4 former ward chair Sadan Bahadur Shahi, claiming that their family member's death was in fact a murder. Though Mayor Chalaune and six others have been detained over the case, six are still at large.
