Protest hits hospital services

Pokhara, December 8:

A protest programme held on the premises of the Western Regional Hospital, Pokhara, affected the services hospital’s today.

Parents and relatives of an 11-month-old child, who died yesterday while undergoing treatment for month-old burn injuries, accused doctors of carelessness and sought action against those attending the child. They said Binod Thapa died while undergoing a surgery to fill the burn wound.

The victim’s kin and hospital administration yesterday and today held discussions to settle the issue, but in vain. “The exact cause of the child’s death is not known, acting medical superintendent of the hospital,” Dr Lumeshwor Acharya said.
