Protesting teachers unlock Kailali DEO

DHANGADHI: The District Education Office (DEO) padlocked by protesting teachers of Kailali district resumed services from Friday.

Earlier, the meeting held among Assistant Chief District Officer Udaya Bahadur Singh, Education Committee Chairman or Local Development Officer Keshav Prasad Bimali and the representatives of agitating teachers had decided to open the Office.

The agitating teachers had padlocked the Office on Wednesday demanding the transfer of District Education Officer Ganesh Bahadur Singh who allegedly worked against the earlier promises that the DEO had made.

According to Nepal Teacher Association Kailali Chairman, Bhupal Khadka, they had opened the Office after getting an assurance from Assistant CDO Singh to move forward their demand after the CDO Mohan Bahadur Chapagain returned. Chapagain is currently out of the district.

Khadka further stated that their agitation was on and if their demand was not paid any heed, they would padlock the Office again.
