PA member Karna tells Dalit children to go to school

Rajbiraj, December 6

Province 2 Assembly member Rubi Kumari Karna visited a Dalit settlement to inquire about students living there who had enrolled in schools during the government’s student enrollment campaign in Rajbiraj, Saptari, today.

After receiving complaints that students were not attending school she had reached students’ houses to know why they had quit studies.

Different political parties’ leaders, ministers and former ministers, among others, had taken guardianship of students  during the enrollment campaign. Province Assembly member Karna herself had taken guardianship of Suraj Kumar Sada of Shree National Primary School, Gathiya, on April 18.

Likewise, Minister for Education Giriraj Mani Pokhrel had taken guardianship of Tinku Marik, former minister of education Bishownath Sha of Shyam Sundar Sada, former irrigation minister Umesh Kumar Yadav of Raja Kumar Sada and Rajbiraj Municipality Mayor Shambhu Prasad Yadav of Kula Nanda.

Tinku was doing household work while two other children were playing when Karna reached their house today morning. Karna talked to their guardians and urged them to send the kids to school on a regular basis. “We and the government will support you, but guardians have to send their wards to the school regularly,” she said.

Karna also distributed education materials, warm clothes, biscuits and noodles, among other things, to students.
