CM distributes relief to flood victims

Rautahat, July 18

Province 2 Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut distributed relief materials to flood victims when he visited the flood-hit areas of Rautahat today.

At least 10 persons had lost their lives due to floods in Lal Bakaiya and Bagmati rivers of Rautahat last Friday. As many as 70,000 households were affected while 5,000 were displaced due to the disaster.

Disaster victims have been sheltering in schools and community buildings.

Chief Minister Raut distributed Rs one lakh each to the families of those who died in the floods on behalf of the federal government in Gaur District Administration Office. Likewise, the CM also gave away food materials and tents, among other relief materials, to 100 flood-affected households of Gaur Municipality.

On the occasion, CM Raut said the government was trying to address the issue of floods for good. CM Raut added that the province government was holding discussion with the central government regarding the problems of Lalbakaiya and Bagmati, among other rivers.

Chief Minister Raut said the Rs three lakh announced by the province government would be offered to families of those who had lost their members in the monsoon floods. The government has been working with the central government to address the problems of displaced victims.
