Province 2 election is chance to identify those for and against federalism: Nidhi

JANAKPUR: Nepali Congress leader Bimalendra Nidhi has argued that the third phase of local level elections slated on September 18 in Province 2 would offer a chance to identity who were for federalism and who were not.

Speaking at a press meet organised by Janakpur chapter of NC in Janakpurdham today, Nidhi said that the need of the hour was to defeat and wipe out those opposing constitution-mandated federalism in the country.

Nidhi warned that time had come that the Madheshi community may teach a lesson to the CPN UML party in the upcoming election. His statement was directed at the UML's stance against Madhesh's issues.

Nidhi also blamed that the constitution amendment could not be forwarded due to the objection from UML that he believed now is fearful of humiliating defeat in the election in Province 2.

Similarly, NC central committee member and Coordinator of the Publicity Committee Ramesh Lekhak claimed that the people were endorsing NC in Province 2.

According to him, the upcoming election was both a challenge and opportunity for the voters to help NC emerge a winner in the province with dominance of Madheshi community.

Lekhak was of the view that the upcoming election was a referendum between those standing for and against the Madhesh and Madheshi community.
