Province 4 Chief Minister to be decided on Feb 11

KASKI: CPN-UML is all set to elect the parliamentary party leader for Province 4 Provincial Assembly (PA) on February 11.

“A party meeting will be held on February which will decide on the name of parliamentary party leader,” UML PA member Kiran Gurung said.

The UML has formed a three member committee to decide on the name of parliamentary party leader. Surendra Thapa Magar and Kamal Aryal are the members of the committee headed by leader Somnath Aryal ‘Pyasi’.

The committee has plans to decide on the name on February 11 based on consensus. If consensus is not forged, the committee intends to decide on the name through election.

It is a given fact that the name chosen as the UML party parliamentary leader will eventually become the Chief Minister of the province.

The left alliance, which holds a majority in the Province 4 PA, has decided earlier to allot the speaker’s seat to CPN Maoist Centre while CPN-UML will receive the Chief Ministerial post.

However, there is no unanimity on the name for the Chief Ministerial candidate since strong hopefuls UML secretary Prithivi Subba Gurung and Central Committee Member Kiran Gurung are vying for the top seat.
