Provincial Assembly meeting in Province 4 on Monday, preparations completed

POKHARA: The maiden meeting of Provincial Assembly in Province 4 is set to be held in Pokhara on Monday. An all-party meeting on Sunday forged a consensus on the agenda for the first ever assembly to begin from 11:00 am at Nadipur-based Town Development Training Centre of provisional headquarters Pokhara.

Parliament Secretariat Joint-secretary Jibraj Budhathoki informed that a five-member chair committee with one representative each from CPN-UML, Nepali Congress, CPN MC, Naya Shakti Nepal, and Rastriya Janamorcha will be formed in the PA meeting.

He further informed that an all-party meeting also agreed on allowing only 11 PA members (three each from major political parties including at least a woman, and one from each fringe parties) to speak in the assembly.

"The selected members representing the parties will conclude speaking in the assembly within an hour," said Budhathoki.

The meeting also held discussions on holding the elections of house speaker and deputy speaker on February 15 and 18 respectively. As per the constitutional provision, the house speaker and deputy speaker elections should be held within 15 days of PA's maiden meeting.

Meanwhile, the preparations for PA meeting have been completed according to Budhathoki. Seating arrangements have been made for the 60 assembly members and other participants including journalists. A total of 16 marshals will be deployed in the meeting hall.  Province 4 has 59 lawmakers.
