Provincial govt working to support farmers: CM

Province 3 Chief Minister Dormani Poudel said construction and repair of agriculture roads was being carried out in different districts of the province targeting pocket areas of agricultural products.
Responding to questions raised by lawmakers at the Provincial Assembly today, Chief Minister Poudel said his government had initiated the process of marketing and transportation agricultural products produced at the local levels to towns and cities of the country.
“Studies are being conducted to provide effective information and services for farmers. Similarly, the work of updating identity cards of those injured during the second people’s movement and the Maoist revolution is under way,” he said.
The chief minister informed that his government had provided relief amounts to 17 of the total 25 families, who lost their members in monsoon-related incidents this year. “While we have provided relief to a total 17 families with Rs 100,000 each, the remaining eight families will also get the relief amount soon,” CM Poudel said.
“As for repair of flood and landslide-damaged infrastructure, work of collecting data is in progress. Once we have collected details, repair work will start without any delay,” said the chief minister.
Regarding dengue outbreak, a pressing health issue, the chief minister said a ‘search and destroy’ campaign had been launched in places such as Kathmandu, Chitwan and Hetauda, among others, where dengue had been detected.
