Public health bill tabled in parliament

KATHMANDU: The public health bill 2075 BS has been tabled in the meeting of the House of Representatives today.

The bill was tabled by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav.

Participating in the deliberations on the bill today, former Health Minister Khagraj Adhikari, opined that the VIPS should themselves bear the cost of their treatment abroad.

Lawmaker Krishna Bhakta Pokharel said that the health insurance and emergency health fund were made effective in the bill to make effective public health policy.

Former Law Minister Sher Bahadur Tamang said that the bill had paved the way forward for reaching the specialist doctors in the remote area's hospital.

Similarly, former Health Minister Gagan Thapa stated that the bill should ensure quality health service.

Responding to the queries of the lawmakers, DPM Yadav said that the bill was tabled to assure quality health service to the people.

The next meeting of the HoR will take place at 11:00 am on August 23.
