Quake-damaged hydel plants repaired

Three micro hydropower projects, which were damaged by the 2015 earthquakes, have been successfully repaired in Khotang district.

The April earthquake of 2015 had damaged 60KW Nakhamkhola, 30KW Swaratapkhola and 70KW Sindhuredhunga micro hydropower projects. Repair of the quake-damaged plants had started from the beginning of the current fiscal.

According to Babi Chamling, coordinator of the district coordination committee, the repair cost was somewhere at 2.8 million rupees. “While Nakhamkhola and Swaratapkhola each cost almost the same amount — eight lakh rupees, the repair cost of the third project stood at 1.2 million rupees,” he informed.

Meanwhile, repair work of 19KW Lumjukhola micro hydropower project of Jalapa is in pipeline. The repair cost of the project is expected to cost more than eight lakh rupees.
