Quake-hit schools being rebuilt in Ramechhap

Rural Reconstruction Nepal, a non-governmental organisation, has expedited construction of two school structures, which were damaged during the 2015 earthquakes at Gelu and Chisapani of Ramechhap.

The organisation has been constructing two earthquake-resistant buildings for Sharada Secondary School of Gelu, and Bhimeshwor Rudra Secondary School of Chisapani with a combined budget of Rs 32 million. RRN launched the project after the government decided to take help of non-government organisations for the reconstruction of damaged schools in badly-hit districts.

The schools’ buildings have been constructed with the active participation of local guardians and respective school management committees. A budget of Rs 17.5 million has been allocated for the construction of the building for Bhimeshwor Rudra School, while Rs 14.5 million has been allocated for Sharada School, as per an RRN source.

Hemanta Budhathoki, chief of the District Planning Office, Manthali said a monitoring team under his leadership took stock of school structures.

The monitoring team officials said more than 40 per cent work on construction of the schools have been completed so far. Chairperson of Bhimeshwor Secondary School Management Committee, Uddhav Ramtel, said they were delighted with the speedy construction of the building.
