Questions raised over quality of education
Pokhara, October 16
The participants of an interaction today said that the country was facing a dearth of skilled manpower due to the lack of effective technical and vocational education and training policy of the government.
The participants of an interaction on Technical Education and Vocational Training Policy 2069 organised by the Department of Education expressed their grave concerns about the lack of effective and skilled manpower.
They were of the opinion that migrant workers also could not earn good sum of money in foreign lands as they lacked quality and skill.
Speaking at the interaction, Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan city Mayor Man Bahadur GC said technical education and vocational training in the country was not growing effectively as the government provided it free of cost.
“Only if the people were provided with the technical education and vocational training for a fee, they would pay necessary attention and gain proficiency in their field of study,” said Mayor GC.
Former government secretary Mahashram Sharma said though technical education and vocational training was achieving quantitative growth it lacked qualitative growth.
Sharma underscored the need of quality and relevance of such education and training.
