ROLPA: Two persons have died after being bitten by a rabid dog in Sirpa village of Rolpa district on Tuesday.

The victims have been identified as Kare Pun Magar (65) and Hira Bahadur Pun aMgar (53) of Simegitha in Sirpa VDC-5 in the district.

Kare died at his home while Hira died on the way to a hospital, according to locals.

Eleven people including six women as well as six cattle were bitten by the rabid dog in a single day, said a local resident Nem Bahadur Khadka.

Those injured by the dog have been vaccinated against rabies at Sulichaur-based National Medical and are recommended to revaccinate the following day.

Meanwhile, the locals have killed 45 stray dogs recently.
