Rain cools off heated UDMF protests in Birgunj
BIRGUNJ: A drizzle on Thursday cooled down the demonstration of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) cadres in Birgunj.
Subsequently, the market and the normal lives of the people in the area have gone back to normal.
The UDMF cadres had intensified their protests, which were on the wane recently, since Tuesday again. However, the weather did not cooperate with their plan.
Despite the reduced intensity of the agitation, vehicular movement in the area is low due to the weather. Temperature has also dipped down following the rain.
The UDMF cadres had resorted to burning tyres, torch rally and demonstration after intensifying their protest in various parts of the city from Tuesday.
A local shopkeeper, Dipak Sarraf said, "The shops in the area have opened up as there are no protesters to be seen. Though there are no customers, it is a relief for us for we didn't have to to smell the burnt tyres."
Raju Babu, a protester, said that the protest would be back on the track after the weather returned to normal.
