Rajbiraj, February 10:

The CPN (UML), CPN (Maoist) and United Left Front, the three member parties of the seven-party alliance, today jointly padlocked the Rajbiraj municipality claiming that the office has not made public its account report.

The municipality lockout was staged after the executive officer in the municipality twice ignored the parties’ call to make public the financial statement of the municipality, Bhogendra Chaudhary, the UML Rajbiraj city committee secretary, said.

“On February 5 we had given a two-day ultimatum to the municipality officials to make public the statement of income and expenditure in the municipality but the call was ignored,” he said.

The lockout is to press the municipality authority to immediately act on our call, he further said.
