Damauli, October 4

Nepali Congress, Tanahun, has recommended the names of senior party leader Ramchandra Paudel and former home minister Govinda Raj Joshi as party’s candidates from constituency 1 of the district for the upcoming parliamentary elections under the First-Past-the-Post category.

NC Tanahun has also recommended the names of as many as 107 aspirant candidates for the provincial and parliamentary elections under both the First-Past-the-Post and proportional electoral system from the district. “The Tanahun district working committee picked the candidates for the elections and forwarded the names to the party leadership,” said NC Tanahun president Baikuntha Neupane.

NC central working committee members Shankar Bhandari and Govinda Bhattarai and lawmaker Ram Chandra Pokharel have also been recommended from constituency 1 of the district for the provincial election.

Similarly, lawmaker and NC parliamentary secretary Dhruba Wagle, central working committee member Pradip Poudel, former general secretary of Tarun Dal Pushpa Raj Parajuli and NC Tanahun vice-president Jit Prakash Ale, among others, have been included on the list for the parliamentary polls.

“We tried to unanimously nominate central working member Pradip Poudel as party candidate for the parliamentary election, but we could not do so because of a large number of aspirant candidates,” said NC Tanahun.

Meanwhile, the CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre have also been working to finalise the lists of their prospective candidates for the provincial and parliamentary elections scheduled for November 26 and December 7.
