Paudel stresses ending deadlock thru consensus

Damauli, December 10

Nepali Congress Senior leader Ramchandra Paudel today asked top leaders of the major political parties to give a way out to the statute amendment bill.

Speaking at a foundation stone laying programme in Byash Municipality, Damauli, Paudel said, “Parties should settle the issue of amendment proposal instead of making it a cause of discord.”

Paudel also stressed on forging consensus among the major parties and the United Democratic Madhesi Front to protect the political gains made so far. He warned that non-passage of the bill in the Parliament would push the country into a state of uncertainty and instability.

He urged the main opposition CPN-UML not to misuse the term anti-national. “The UML is keeping people in illusion by raising the issue of nationalism erroneously. This does not bode well for the country,” Paudel added.

Stating that the trend of becoming a leader through the use of money, power, hooliganism and extortion had increased in the country, Paudel said the country was in need of leaders with integrity. He appealed to the political parties and their leaders to rise above their partisan interests for the progress and development of the country.
