GAIGHAT, JUNE 23
Police arrested a youth after he was accused of being involved in a rape attempt on a 19-year-old married woman from Katari Municipality in Udayapur, today.
The arrested has been identified as Narayan Shrestha, 25, of the municipality.
Police said they arrested Shrestha as per the FIR filled by the victim's husband in Area Police Office, Katari.
Police said that Shrestha had tried to rape the woman while she was at her house watching TV on June 15. The accused has been at large since then.
The victim woman said that she was alone at her house when Shrestha entered the house and tried to rape her when her husband and mother-in-law had gone to graze cattle. "I was cooking in the kitchen and watching TV when Shrestha entered the kitchen and tried to rape me," she said.
She added that the accused rapist escaped after she cried out for help.
The villagers reached the police after a relative of the accused threatened to settle the case at the local level. Further investigation into the case is under way, said police.
