LAMJUNG: Lamjung District Court on Tuesday convicted Jit Bahadur Adhikary of Bahundanda VDC, Lamjung on the charges of rape and murder and handed down 28 years’ life imprisonment with confiscation of all his property.

Adhikary was kept in the custody of district jail for the past one-and-a-half year for investigation.

A single bench of district Judge Arjun Adhikary pronounced the life sentence for the rape and murder of an 18-year-old girl of Bahundanda VDC.

Court staff Harigopal Gyawali said the court had given clean chit to Jit Bahadur’s maternal grandmother, Padam Kumari Mahat, an accused in the incident.
