Phidim, May 13

The Panchthar District Court today sentenced two youths for raping a woman to 10 years in prison.

A single bench of Judge Manoj Kumar KC had issued the verdict against Jayandra Tamang, 24, and Samir Kerung, 25, of Phidim Municipality-1. They had raped a 30-year-old woman some six years ago.

The victim had filed a case against the two at the district police office. However, Tamang and Kerung had been absconding. They were arrested three months ago. A case was filed against the two at the district court immediately after they were arrested.

Information officer Mohan Jabegu at the district court said the court had slapped five years’ prison term for rape and additional five years’ jail term for gang rape.
