RJP-N leader inspects flood-hit areas

Rautahat, August 17

Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal presidium member Anil Kumar Jha today visited various flood-hit places of Saptari and took stock of the victims in the district.

“The situation of victims at Jetharahiya of Madhav Narayan and Bhalohiya, Gangapipara, Matsari,Pacharukhi among other places of Durga Bhagawati was terrible. Both concrete and temporary houses were destroyed while the stock of food grains was rotten,” recounted Jha.

He urged the government to use chemicals and apply medications to avert a possible pandemic. He argued that the government had not begun rescue and relief distribution in the area effectively.

The relief items allotted for Durga Bhagawati is so less that there will be a scuffle among victims during distribution. “Hence, the real victims have to be identified before relief distribution,” said Jha. Talking to THT, Jha said the state mechanism had failed to acknowledge the sensitivity of Tarai people and it has been unnecessarily lingering rescue and relief distribution.

“Though the Tarai folks are patriotic and loyal to the country, they have been blatantly ignored by the state and leaders of the major forces even at a time of great disaster,” Jha came down heavily on the ruling forces. He demanded immediate relief and rehabilitation of victims.

He demanded that the Tarai region be declared a crisis-hit zone.
