RJP-N preparing to mark Black Day in Saptari
Rajbiraj, September 19
While the Constitution Day will be celebrated across the country with various programmes, Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal — the ruling party of Province 2 — is preparing to mark it as Black Day in Saptari.
At the initiative of RJP-N, preparations are under way to mark Constitution Day — which falls on September 20 — as Black Day.
Protest rallies were taken out with black flags at major market places in the district today. Province 2 government ministers also participated in the programme. A protest rally was taken out with black flags in Rajbiraj, the district headquarters of Saptari.
Province 2 Minister of Social Development had led the rally. The rally converged into a mass meet later. Addressing the mass meeting, Minister Sah said despite being in the government, he and his party would continue agitating until the demands of Madhes were included in the constitution. “We shall mark Constitution Day with happiness only if the statute is amended,” Sah held.
RJP-N cadres had put up black flags at more than a dozen government offices in Saptari. However, after the demonstrators left, government employees removed the flags. During the rally, RJP-N cadres urged government employees to put up black flags and not observe deepawali on the day.
At the mass meet, Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal Saptari Chair Hareram Yadav, central member Dinesh Yadav, Rajbiraj Municipality Deputy Mayor Sadhana Jha, among others, said they would mark Constitution Day as Black Day until their genuine demands were addressed.
Newly-formed Samajbadi Party-Nepal Saptari Chair Kedar Yadav, however, clarified his party would not participate in both the protest and celebration programmes slated to be organised on Constitution Day.
