Rasuwa to host literary festival in commemoration of quake victims

RASUWA: Rasuwa will be hosting the Langtang Literary Festival next month with an aim to commemorate the departed souls who lost their lives in the 2015 earthquake.

The festival will be organised by a local organisation, Rasuwa Srasta Society, on May 12.

Poetry recitation and drawing are parts of the festival, said litterateur Phurpa Tamang. β€œThe objective of the event is to send out a message that Langtang Trekking Route is safe after the earthquake, to make locals aware regarding promotion of tourism and protect bio-diversities in the district which is rich in natural resources.”

A total of 175 locals, tourists, and trekking guides were killed in the devastating earthquake that hit the country to its core. As many as 14 districts including Rasuwa β€” the mountainous district in Province 3 β€” were the most affected districts.

Meanwhile, the Kyangjawen Monastery in Rasuwa, which was largely damaged in the earthquake, has been reconstructed. The monastery that lies in Langtang area at an altitude of 3,900 metres above sea level was restored with the help of donors, informed Langtang Reconstruction Management Committee Chair Temba Lama.
