Rautahat village tense over school's election

RAUTAHAT: Tension ran high in Bishrampur village of Rautahat district on Monday as two groups of locals clashed over election of a school management committee.

Rautahat police had to use three shells of tear gas to control the situation.

During the election of the management committee of Nepal Higher Secondary School in the district, two groups started pelting stones at each other following the dispute between two of the candidates.

In the clash between supporters of the opposing candidates, namely Jagannath Sahani and Ram Prabesh Patel; Sadhu Sahani and Chintu Sahani of Bairiya-3 and  Sukhal Mukhiya of Bairiya-6 sustained injuries on their heads, Kameshor Sahani of Samanpur VDC Accountant informed.

It has been learned that the clash started after Jagannath Sahani filed his candidacy in a Patel-dominated community and Yadav community's support to Sahani made the situation even worse.

DSP Nabin Krishna Bhandari of the Rautahat District Police Office stated that they had to resort to the baton charge also to stop the clash.

Stating that some police personnel also sustained injuries in the clash, he added that the election was conducted successfully under their security after a delay of some hours.
