Rautahat municipalities reopen as leader apologises for abuse

RAUTAHAT: Offices of three municipalities in the district resumed their services on Monday after Sadbhawana Party district chairman apologised for an 'abuse' against Gaur Municipality chief.

Staff of all three municipalities in the district – Gaur, Chandrapur and Garuda – had launched an indefinite strike on Sunday, demanding actions against the political party leader and his followers who allegedly abused Sunil Yadav, Executive Officer of Gaur Municipality.

But, they called off the protest today after Sadbhawana Party district chairman, Shekh Jamsed, apologised for the act in writing at a meeting among major political parties and concerned stakeholders of the district.

Jamsed had also pledged not to repeat such acts in the future.

Yadav was allegedly abused by Jamsed, among others, on Saturday.

The dispute had started when Yadav rejected the leader's plea to release an amount of Rs 300,000, at the end of the fiscal year. Then, Jamsed and his followers had verbally abused the official, according to reports.
