Rautahat police arrest 5 UDMF leaders

RAUTAHAT: Police arrested five political leaders associated with the United Democratic Madhesi Front, from Gaur Municipality of the district on Monday.

Police nabbed Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal central committee members Ram Kishor Yadav and Rameshwor Yadav, Sadbhawana Party leader Sheikh Jamsed, Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic district chairman Ajay Gupta and Tarai Madhes Democratic Party leader Anil Singh from the house of Rajendra Patel, former District Development Committee Chair in Gaur-5.

Meanwhile, the arrested leaders started chanting slogans against the police suppression in the police vehicle itself.

Spokesperson of District Police Office Rautahat, DSP Sudhi Raj Shahi, confirmed the arrest without explaining it.

Prohibitory order to be lifted

Meanwhile, the District Administration Office said it would lift the prohibitory order imposed in the district headquarters since yesterday. The decision to announce it a riot-hit zone, however, is intact.

The prohibitory order would be lifted from 7 pm this evening, according to Chief District Officer, Madan Bhujel.
