Rautahat police nab alleged drug smugglers

RAUTAHAT: The Rautahat District Police Office on Wednesday made public eight persons including a minor arrested for their alleged involvement in drug smuggling and other criminal activities.

Police nabbed them red-handed and made them public in a press conference today.

According to DSP Rajendra Pokharel, police have started a campaign to minimise such criminal activities after many cases of theft were reported. They have arrested six "professional thieves" so far.

The arrestees have been identified as Prem Sah and Umesh Mandal of Chandrapur Municipality-4, Bigu Mahato of Gaur-11, Ajay Sahani of Badaharwa-5, Sandeep Kumar Kushwaha of Mithuawa-8, Tajir ansari of Birgunj-17, Surendra Baitha of Jigadwa Belbichawa were arrested on charge smuggling, said DSP Pokharel.

He said four of them were also involved in various property crimes in the district.

Police said the District Court has extended judicial remand for them for further investigation.
