Rautahat teachers continue stir

The agitating teachers of public schools in Rautahat have decided to extend their protest for indefinite period in the district from today. They also accused the police of misbehaving with them during their sit-in yesterday.
The teachers of public schools of Yamunamai Rural Municipality and Rajdevi Municipality had staged a sit-in, yesterday, in front of District Education Office, Rautahat, and had demanded release of their due salaries of the past few months.
The public schools in the areas have been shut for infinite period. The agitating teachers while demonstrating in front of District Education Office, Rautahat, today slammed the authorities for their misbehavior. They stated their protest would continue until their salaries were released.
Nepal Teacher’s Association, Nepal Teacher’s Organisation, Federal Forum Nepal, and Nepal National Teachers’ Council, among other groups, expressed their solidarity and shut as many as 350 state-run schools across the country.
Meanwhile, Chief District Officer Uddhav Bahadur Thapa said the schools were facing a hard time due to lack of budget from the municipality. However, CDO Thapa said discussion was under way to sort out the problem.
