RAUTAHAT: A teenage boy died after a motorcycle he was riding on rammed an electricity utility pole in Pipra Bhagawanpur VDC of Rautahat district on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Dhirendra Rauniyar (17) of Garuda Municipality-1 of the district, the District Police Office said.

Likewise, the pillion rider, Rabindra Das from Garuda-2, sustained critical injuries in the accident. He is undergoing treatment at the Gaur Hospital.

The two-wheeler (Ba 42 Pa 3909) heading towards Gaur, the district headquarters, from Garuda had hit the pole on the roadside, police said.

Seriously injured in the accident, Rauniyar was rushed to the Gaur-based District Hospital, which declared him dead on arrival.

Police Inspector Ashok Jha said the high speed resulted in the accident.

A further investigation is underway.
